SYDNEY STARS ANNOUNCE SKIPPER
The Sydney Stars are pleased to announce their Captain for the inaugural Buildcorp National Rugby Championship (NRC) as Patrick McCutcheon....
Appointed by Sydney Stars Head Coach, Chris Malone, Patrick’s assignment as the team’s very first skipper comes in recognition of his clear dedication throughout his rugby career to all facets of the team environment both on and off-field.
Having coached “Cutch” while at Sydney University Football Club, Malone knows first-hand the positive impact he has on players, and is confident Patrick will be the best man for the job.
“Cutch is always one to put his hand up to do something for the team” said Malone. “His selfless promotion of his team mates makes him the outstanding candidate to lead the Sydney Stars”.
Patrick also brings with him a wealth of leadership experience, including holding the position of the Waratahs’ off-field Club Captain since 2013 and captaining Australia to a Silver medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010 in Rugby Sevens.
He is a natural born leader and role model, and despite his full commitment to the Waratahs during their preparation for the Super Rugby Grand Final, he has already demonstrated the passion that will be required to unite the players that come together for the Sydney Stars.
“He has the ability to bring together players from all walks of life, and already has some innovative ways to bring this brand new team together” said Malone.
We congratulate Patrick on this exciting appointment, and look forward to seeing him lead our boys out against Brisbane City at Ballymore Stadium on Thursday August 21!
